Shanwei City lies on the sea shore in the south-east of
Guangdong Province. between the two Special Economic Zones, Shenzhen
and Shantou, and between the Zhujian Delta and Eastern Guangdong.
Approved by the State Council, Shanwei became a City directly under
the jurisdiction of the province in 1988 and now has under its control
the Urban District, Haifeng County, Lufeng City and Luhe County.
Shanwei City covers an area of 5271 square kilometers, and has a
population of 2550 thousand. In history, this land has yielded rich
products and also lots of outstanding personalities. Since the
opening-up to the world of China, Shanwei has taken the advantage of
being close to Hongkong and Macau, having a long history of foreign
trade and the tight relationship with the overseas. Adhering to the
policy of Opening-up, Shanwei keeps developing its foreign trade.
